Holme Pierrepont Hall heritage literature
Holme Pierrepont Hall on the outskirts of Nottingham is a beautiful Tudor house, built in 1500.
In 2018, the owners received help from the Heritage Lottery Fund for repairs to the fabric of their stunning walled garden and asked Monkie to create the first in a collection of heritage brochures to celebrate the completion of the project. This guide to the history of the gardens will walk visitors through the varied landscape of the grounds, revealing the fascinating history hidden in each corner.
The restorative work completed by volunteers and experts provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund is detailed in the document, along with a compelling insight into how the grounds have been used over the past 500 years to feed and entertain the residents. Famous visitors and intriguing connections with historic events are complimented by previously unseen photographs, engravings and paintings from across the centuries.
The garden brochure was quickly followed by a second one, detailing forthcoming events and activities for next year, so make sure you find time to see this majestic house in all of its glory.
We are about to start work on the next in the series – ‘A History of the house’, another HLF sponsored publication that will finally reveal the definitive story of the hall, for everyone to enjoy.
