| City and County visitor guides 2008. Being born and bred Nottinghamshire lads, the founders of Monkie were rightly passionate about this project. Nottinghamshire has a rich heritage and future that promises a return to past greatness, with the renewed interest in the legend of Robin Hood, the extensive redevelopment of the city's shopping offer and the wide appeal of its diverse culture. Trying to create a suite of visitor guides which encapsulated all of the above was the challenge. But this we did with a complete re-design in the 2008 guides for Experience Nottinghamshire.
Everyday practicality for the county visitor was a prime consideration, and throw out maps at the back of each document allowed the reader to be both informed, and immediately aware of their location, in relation to the guide listings and editorial features. Employing a magazine-like look and feel, they broke the mould for visitor guides with an informal and candid take on how best to spend time in the county. Over 180,000 guides were produced by Pyramid Press in record time, to hit the streets come the new year, their popularity self evident with them flying from the tourism centre's shelves. |
